WMIN Radio
Today's WMIN is not your father's WMIN. It was at 1400 AM and played polka music in the early 60's I remember one of the DJ's then was Yonnie Yonnson (Johnny Johnson had a Swedish accent and that is how he pronounced his name). Later in the 60's (possibly late '63), they switched to Country & Western and the sound became less Western and DJ's became the Country Gentlemen. Don Johnson eventually became the PD and he later worked for KTCR-FM. There are airchecks of him at the KTCR page on this site.
Around 1969-70, the owners of WMIN signed on beautiful music KEEY-FM with 100,000 Watts of power.
This page has some old tapes and some current photos of WMIN's former studio site and antenna. Scroll down.
